NATO members left out of Poland summit raise alarms over US-led alliance split
Diplomats from NATO states not invited to a Poland meeting said they are trying to understand the criteria and warned that the United States appears to be fracturing the alliance.
A representative from a NATO country excluded from an upcoming summit in Poland said that the invitation process is unclear. The gathering continues the so-called Bergen format, which began when US Deputy Defense Secretary Elbridge Colby met with officials from Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, Finland and Poland. Nations left out fear the United States is deliberately dividing the alliance and caution that the consequences could be severe for Europe.
