NAV removes senior tax official amid investigation linked to former minister
Tamásné Czinege Csilla, a deputy head of the tax authority's tax expertise department, was dismissed along with the agency's chief criminal director and his deputy. The move follows the detention of former minister Seszták Miklós.
Tamásné Czinege Csilla, who held the senior deputy position in the tax authority's tax expertise department, was relieved of her mandate together with the head of the agency's criminal division and his assistant. The dismissals occurred shortly after Finance Minister Kármán András dismissed Szalavics Mariann from the deputy head post for resource management, a role she had occupied since August 2022. Szalavics, formerly the economic director of the state bus company Volánbusz, is now implicated in the investigation surrounding former minister and MP Seszták Miklós. Authorities detained Seszták and a court ordered his continued custody as part of a probe into alleged irregularities in bus procurement contracts. Kármán András later appointed a new head of the tax authority, tasking the leadership with restoring public trust and ensuring politically neutral, professional operations while pursuing any necessary internal investigations.
