Nav to issue repayment notices and additional payments to disability beneficiaries

Nav will send letters to disability pensioners indicating either a repayment obligation or an additional payment after a review of last year's disbursements.

Nav is set to commence a mail-out on 20 October, informing disability benefit recipients about adjustments to payments for the 2025 income year. The letters will indicate whether the individual has been overpaid and must return funds, or has been underpaid and will receive additional money. Recipients are urged to review their statements and report any errors or unaccounted earnings to Nav without delay.

For those facing repayment, Nav will provide information on payment deadlines and options for a repayment schedule. Most beneficiaries, however, will find that their payments were correct and will not receive any notice. The agency emphasizes the importance of prompt communication to resolve any issues.

Why it matters

Incorrect disability payments affect thousands of citizens and require prompt correction to ensure fair distribution of public funds.
