NBI arrests immigration officer at Manila airport over alleged human-trafficking role
The National Bureau of Investigation detained a Bureau of Immigration employee at Ninoy Aquino International Airport, accusing him of aiding a human-trafficking scheme.
According to NBI Director Melvin Matibag, the arrested officer was linked to illegal recruiters who promise overseas jobs to applicants lacking proper documents. He allegedly acted as a conduit, briefing traffickers and arranging flight bookings for the victims. The operation is said to have taken place at the airport in Pasay City, part of Manila.
