NCCIA launches special units and cyber patrols to combat fake news and anti-state propaganda

The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency announced the creation of special units aimed at preventing anti-state propaganda and fake news, alongside operational cyber-patrol units in every region. Director General Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi conducted a five-day inspection tour of all circles in Punjab, reviewing reporting centres, police stations and agency offices while speaking with more than 500 complainants. He directed that the complaints and verification system be streamlined for public accessibility and that resources be fully deployed to deliver swift justice.
The NCCIA reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy toward misinformation, pledging no compromise on merit, transparency or thorough record maintenance. Throughout the visit, the DG emphasized timely justice for cyber-crime victims and instructed officers to improve performance, case disposal rates and administrative practices.
