Nearly 3 Million Palestinians Eligible to Vote in November Legislative Election

The Palestinian Central Elections Commission announced that approximately 2.97 million Palestinians are qualified to cast ballots in the legislative elections scheduled for Nov 28, covering the West Bank, Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip. Demographic data break down the electorate into 1.24 million in Gaza, 1.59 million in the West Bank and 140,000 ID holders in Jerusalem. Voters under 38 total 1.57 million, accounting for 53 % of the pool, while women make up 49.9 % and men 50.1 %.

Age-group distribution shows 17.5 % aged 18-24, 30.6 % aged 25-35, 20.8 % aged 36-45, 14.3 % aged 46-55 and 16.8 % over 55. The commission also recorded about 51,000 disabled voters in the West Bank, representing 3.2 % of that region’s electorate, and said polling stations will be adapted for their participation.
