Nearly 95,000 Uttarakhand Voters Declared Ineligible Through Auto-Generated Form 7s
Around 95,000 voters in Uttarakhand were marked as ineligible after missing hearings, triggering automatic Form 7 deletions, the chief electoral officer said.
During Uttarakhand's special intensive revision of electoral rolls, the chief electoral officer confirmed that 95,000 voters were automatically assigned Form 7 deletion requests after they either missed their logical discrepancy hearings or failed to submit required documents. This figure accounts for more than half of the 173,000 Form 7 applications received in the SIR process, which follows a draft roll published on July 14 that removed over 826,000 names and flagged 1.9 million entries for inconsistencies.
Logical discrepancy flags are generated by the Election Commission's ERONET software and do not alone determine ineligibility; voters must attend hearings to prove identity, residence, or age. The Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee has alleged large-scale manipulation of Form 7 filings in five constituencies of Udham Singh Nagar district, citing thousands of objections filed by a handful of individuals. The final electoral roll is scheduled for release on October 3, with the deadline for claims and objections set for September 28, and those marked ineligible may still apply for new registration using Form 6 after the final roll is published.
