Neighbour arrested for alleged rape of 3-month-old in Uttar Pradesh village

Police arrested a 35-year-old neighbour, identified as Jetendra, after he allegedly raped a three-month-old infant in a Mainpuri district home, where the child was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

In a village of Mainpuri district, Uttar Pradesh, police apprehended a 35-year-old neighbour named Jetendra on charges of raping a three-month-old girl. Bewar police station in-charge Anil Kumar Singh said the suspect, known to the family, entered the home while the mother cooked and the father performed chores, played with the infant and later carried her outside before placing her back on the cot. When the mother tried to soothe the crying baby, she discovered heavy bleeding from the child's private parts and raised an alarm.

The infant was taken to the district hospital, where doctors deemed her condition critical and transferred her to Saifai Medical College for further care. The father filed a complaint on Wednesday, leading authorities to register an FIR under the relevant legal provisions. Police conducted raids at the suspect’s hideouts before making the arrest.
