Népszava staff joins revived Népszabadság as new media venture launches
The editorial team of Népszava is merging into the relaunched Népszabadság, which will operate both as an online outlet and a printed weekly.
After a year of economic strain that pushed Népszava toward possible closure, its editorial staff will now become part of the relaunched Népszabadság. The revived newspaper, announced for an October 8 launch, will be available as an online portal and a printed weekly. Népszava’s archive will stay online at nszo.hu, with selected articles also posted on a new Népszava subsite. Liberty Press Kft., the publisher of the new Népszabadság, holds the publishing rights for both Jelen and Népszava.
Ownership of Liberty Press is being transferred to 4Sight Media Group Zrt., which will provide sufficient funding for the paper’s first two years. The original Népszabadság was abruptly shut down by Mediaworks following a controversial helicopter incident involving Rogán Antal, and later handed over to KESMA, linked to Mészáros Lőrinc.
