Netanyahu says Israel will ready a full West Bank lockdown after shooting

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that the Israeli army is being readied for a comprehensive lockdown of the West Bank following a shooting that wounded five Israelis.

In response to a shooting that injured five Israelis in the West Bank, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened a security assessment with the defence minister, the chief of staff, the Shin Bet head, the national security council chief and the Central Command commander. He instructed the Israel Defense Forces to begin preparations for a comprehensive lockdown of the entire West Bank and to impose an immediate closure on Hebron.

The IDF said that returning fire resulted in the deaths of two Palestinian gunmen. Netanyahu praised the troops for averting a larger terrorist incident and expressed wishes for a swift recovery for the wounded. He also announced intensified security operations, including widespread arrests, and vowed to pursue Hamas operatives wherever they are found.
