Netanyahu vows to finish dismantling Iran's regime and Hezbollah, cites Trump talks
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel will see the Iranian regime and Hezbollah eliminated, linking the goal to discussions with Donald Trump.
At the start of the academic year for Kiryat Shmona-Tel Hai University, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that Israel is determined to eradicate both the Iranian regime and its allied militia Hezbollah, a stance he says he has discussed with Donald Trump on multiple occasions. He warned that a surviving Iranian regime, even if weakened, will inevitably attempt to rebuild its nuclear capability and regional axis.
Netanyahu cited Israel’s recent establishment of a deep, depopulated security zone in southern Lebanon, pushing back Hezbollah’s Radwan Force. Defense Minister Israel Katz added that if Hezbollah joins an Iranian strike, the Israeli Defense Forces will expand control over the Nabatieh and Litani regions, evacuating residents and demolishing villages that serve as Hezbollah positions. Katz emphasized that the new security doctrine will remain until Iran-backed forces are fully disarmed throughout Lebanon.
Why it matters
The statements signal a potential escalation of Israel's military posture toward Iran and Hezbollah, affecting regional stability.
