Netflix announces Oct. 15 debut for The Diplomat season four
The Diplomat’s fourth season will launch on Netflix on Oct. 15, following a teaser that shows Kate and Hal trying to repair their marriage amid new geopolitical crises.
Netflix has set Oct. 15 as the streaming date for the eight-hour fourth season of The Diplomat. The new teaser shows ambassador Kate Wyler (Keri Russell) and Vice President Hal Wyler (Rufus Sewell) attempting to mend their marriage after reconciling at the end of season three, while also dealing with a scheme to acquire a Russian nuclear weapon that could push the United States toward war. The trailer hints at further marital conflict, a church vow scene, and the return of former lover Callum (Aidan Turner) and First Gentleman Whitford’s character expressing jealousy.
Showrunner Debora Cahn, speaking from the set in Italy, promised more interaction between the Wyler and Penn families, including a Florence sequence, and noted that the carrier-ship incident from earlier seasons will continue to influence U.S.-U.K. relations. The cast also includes Ato Essandoh, Ali Ahn, Nana Mensah and Rory Kinnear, with Russell and Cahn serving as executive producers alongside Janice Williams, Alex Graves, Peter Noah and Eli Attie.
