Netflix Nears Deal with Andres Cantor for Spanish Coverage of 2027 Women's World Cup

Netflix, while gearing up for its NFL kickoff game in Australia, is reportedly finalizing a deal with Andres Cantor to lead Spanish-language coverage of the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil and to appear at the draw slated for December. Cantor, an Argentine-born broadcaster known for his signature "¡gooooool!" calls, has called roughly 14 World Cups, including the inaugural women’s final in 1991, and has spent the past 26 years with Telemundo.

Sources say his contract with the network will end soon, opening the door for a transition to Netflix. The agreement would position Netflix to compete for FIFA’s upcoming media rights, which will be open to bids from Fox, Disney, NBCUniversal and others for both men’s and women’s tournaments in English and Spanish. Cantor’s involvement could give Netflix a recognizable voice as it vies for a share of the coveted global soccer audience.
