Netflix reshuffles ad leadership as VP Jon Whitticom exits
Netflix announced that VP of ads product Jon Whitticom is leaving, with Marc Heneghan taking over on an interim basis.
Netflix is reorganizing its advertising division, with Amy Reinhard announcing that Jon Whitticom, the vice president of ads product, will exit the company effective immediately. Whitticom, who joined in early 2023 after serving as chief product officer at FreeWheel, helped create the Netflix Ads Suite and integrate buying platforms such as Google, The Trade Desk and Magnite. Marc Heneghan, currently an ads product executive, will lead the unit on an interim basis while an external search for a permanent replacement proceeds.
The change occurs as Netflix leans on its ad-supported tier—chosen by more than 60% of new subscribers in eligible countries—to drive growth, targeting $3 billion in ad revenue this year, nearly double its 2025 projection. Reinhard emphasized the need for trust, collaboration and speed in the evolving business. The company plans sessions with the ads teams to outline the path forward.
Why it matters
The leadership change could shape Netflix's ability to meet its ambitious ad-revenue targets.
