Netflix Seeks Dismissal of Tyra Banks Defamation Claim Over ANTM Documentary

Netflix submitted a legal brief on Friday seeking to dismiss Tyra Banks' defamation suit concerning the docuseries "Reality Check: Inside America’s Next Top Model." Banks, who sued in June, says the series edited her interview to suggest she forgot about contestant Shandi Sullivan’s assault allegation. The brief argues that the contested edits are routine editorial choices, similar to those Banks made while producing 24 seasons of the original show.

It highlights that her statement "I do remember her story" is included at the start of the second episode, contradicting the notion of a misleading omission. Netflix also notes that Banks signed a standard waiver giving up creative control over the project. The company reaffirmed its support for directors Daniel Sivan and Mor Loushy, stating the documentary fairly presented her perspective alongside others. Netflix pledged to continue defending the series vigorously.
