Netflix to debut three-part documentary on Matthew Perry in late October

Netflix announced a three-episode docuseries about Matthew Perry that will premiere on Oct. 27, featuring interviews with friends and family.

Netflix confirmed that a three-part documentary, The One About Matthew Perry, will launch on Oct. 27, offering an in-depth look at the former Friends star’s career and personal challenges. The series will chart his ascent from a budding comedian to the iconic role of Chandler Bing, while also addressing his well-documented ketamine addiction. Interviews include never-before-heard accounts from his sister, Mia Perry Bowick, who works as a grief therapist, and other close friends.

The docuseries aims to present candid details about Perry’s private battles and the advocacy he championed. Perry’s death at age 54 was ruled an overdose in his backyard hot tub, and five people have pleaded guilty to crimes linked to the drug supply, with one doctor currently appealing his sentence. The project is produced by Netflix and references material from one outlet.

Why it matters

The series offers fans a fuller understanding of Matthew Perry’s life beyond his sitcom persona.
