Netflix to Produce Live-Action Ravenloft Series with Alfonso Cuarón and John August
Netflix is developing a live-action adaptation of Dungeons & Dragons’ Ravenloft setting, focusing on vampire lord Strahd von Zarovich, with Alfonso Cuarón and John August as executive producers.
Netflix announced plans for a live-action television series set in the Ravenloft campaign world of Dungeons & Dragons, centering on the creation of the notorious vampire Strahd von Zarovich. The narrative will trace Strahd’s transformation from a tormented noble into the Darklord of the gothic realm. Executive producers Alfonso Cuarón and John August, together with Hasbro Entertainment, will oversee the production.
The series follows a recent update to the Ravenloft setting titled Ravenloft: The Horrors Within. In contrast, the platform confirmed that a previously announced Forgotten Realms series, associated with Shawn Levy and Drew Crevello, is no longer moving forward. The new Ravenloft project represents Netflix’s continued investment in fantasy adaptations despite the setback on the other D&D-based show.
