Netflix has dropped the inaugural trailer for Crew Girl, a teen drama that introduces rowing to the young-adult genre. The plot follows Teagan Tao, portrayed by Miku Martineau, whose promising single-sculls career is derailed by a family scandal, prompting a relocation with her mother, played by Jessica Paré, to a prestigious East Coast boarding school. Lacking a girls’ team, Teagan assumes the role of coxswain for the school’s unruly boys’ varsity crew, confronting the challenges of old-money culture and fierce competition.
She must unite a team resistant to her leadership while contending with the ambitions of captain Josh Regis (Sam Braun) and the driven underdog Cam Dillinger (Kyle Clark). Supporting characters include Coach Matt Hayden, played by Thomas Cadrot. Created by Vivian Lin and Morwyn Brebner, the series is produced by Netflix and Blue Ant Studios and will premiere on September 10.
