Netflix writer sued by estranged wife over nude photos shared with church elders

Andrew Wilder, a 51-year-old writer for Netflix’s “Devil in Ohio” and one outlet’s “Criminal Minds,” was found guilty of distributing private images of his estranged wife Alison to cause emotional distress. According to court filings, Wilder supplied nude photographs and a video to elders of Placerita Bible Church in Santa Clarita and to the church’s pastor, Adam Tyson, to substantiate accusations that Alison had been unfaithful.

The civil complaint alleges that the elders shared the images with Alison’s father, a high-ranking member of the congregation, after obscuring the explicit parts. The lawsuit further portrays Wilder as an abusive, heavy-drinking husband who made racist comments toward his children and threatened his wife. The criminal conviction under California’s revenge-porn statute was handed down last week, with sentencing scheduled for November, while the civil case proceeds.
