New Amazon job scam texts lure victims with high-pay remote offers

Scammers are sending texts that pretend to be Amazon recruiters, promising up to $600 a day for a few hours of remote work, but the offers are fraudulent.

A wave of text messages purporting to be from Amazon’s Remote Recruitment Team is circulating, offering a remote role that supposedly requires only an hour or two per day and pays as much as $600 daily. The messages cite a recruiter named Lauren Whitmore and describe benefits like a four-day workweek, $100-$600 per day earnings, a $5,300 base for 30 days, and limited “18 slots” remaining, directing recipients to text “More Info” to a separate phone number.

The scam mirrors a July 2026 BBB Scam Tracker report that documented the same pay structure, paid-time-off claims, and scarcity tactics. Amazon’s spokesperson warned that these impersonations put consumers at risk and urged reporting through the company’s official channels. The article highlights red flags such as use of a free Hotmail address, vague job duties, and unrealistic compensation, and provides practical advice for verifying legitimate Amazon jobs and safeguarding personal data.

Why it matters

The scam exploits Amazon’s brand to trick people into sharing personal data or money.
