New Found Glory announced via social media that guitarist Chad Gilbert died peacefully in his sleep on Sunday morning at the age of 45. The band’s post, echoed by his wife Lisa Cimorelli, said he was surrounded by family, with his wife and mother present as he took his final breaths. Gilbert had been battling cancer for several years and disclosed in March that he had brain surgery to remove three tumors.

The tribute highlighted his legacy as a musician while emphasizing that his greatest achievement was his role as a husband and father. Surviving relatives include his daughter Lily, his mother Jackie, and his brother Brian. The family expressed shock at his swift passing but gratitude for the calm manner of his death.
