New Government Scheme Gives Up to Rs 15,000 to First-Time Formal Employees

The Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana will pay eligible new workers up to Rs 15,000 in two installments, provided they meet service and financial-literacy conditions.

The Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PM-VBRY) offers a maximum of Rs 15,000 to first-time employees entering the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation system. To qualify, workers must join an EPFO-registered establishment between August 1 2025 and July 31 2027, earn a gross salary of Rs 1 lakh or less per month, and have no prior EPF contributions before that date. The incentive is split into two parts: up to Rs 7,500 after six months of uninterrupted service, and the remainder after twelve months, contingent on completing a government-mandated financial-literacy course.

The benefit is paid via direct benefit transfer to an Indian resident’s Aadhaar-linked bank account. Applicants must verify their EPF history, ensure correct employer reporting, and keep their UAN and bank details up to date. A separate Part B of the scheme provides employers with up to Rs 3,000 per month per new hire, but this does not affect the employee’s cash incentive.

Why it matters

It incentivizes formal employment for low-income workers while promoting basic financial education.
