New Huanggang border terminal launches fast e-channel immigration registration
Travelers can now sign up for automated “collaborative inspection” lanes at the renovated Huanggang port via on-site kiosks or a mobile app.
At a recent press briefing, the Immigration Department detailed the launch of automated “collaborative inspection” channels at the newly redeveloped Huanggang border crossing. Travelers as young as seven can register for the e-channels on the spot or via a mobile application, while individuals aged 14 and above may opt for facial-recognition clearance that eliminates the need to present travel documents. Registration points include counters and self-service kiosks at the port, and adult users can also enrol instantly as they pass through.
Assistant immigration director Jacky Wong said the process takes only a few seconds and that sufficient staff and helpers will be deployed during the early days of operation. Those who do not meet the criteria can still use traditional manual immigration counters.
