New poll shows dramatic shift in Los Angeles mayoral contest
A recent survey of likely Los Angeles voters shows a sharp swing toward challenger Nithya Raman and a steep drop in incumbent Karen Bass's favorability.
A September poll of 2,150 likely Los Angeles voters, carried out online between Sept. 15 and Sept. 20, reveals a significant reversal from the June primary, where Bass led with 34% to Raman’s 29%. The latest numbers show Raman narrowing the margin and Bass’s favorability plummeting to 28% positive versus 63% negative. Raman’s favorability stands at 40% positive and 39% negative, with 21% of respondents neutral.
The survey underscores a stark age split: Raman commands 66% of voters aged 18-29 and 64% of those 30-39, while Bass leads voters 65 and older 41% to 21%. Additionally, 63% of Pratt’s primary backers remain undecided, potentially influencing the runoff. The poll arrives as ballot mailing begins on Oct. 1 ahead of the Nov. 3 election.
