New security measures cause lengthy queues at Copenhagen Airport terminals
Enhanced security procedures at Copenhagen Airport have led to waiting times of at least 45 minutes in both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.
Copenhagen Airport has implemented stricter security protocols, which have immediately produced long lines at the security checkpoints of Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Lise Agerley Kürstein, the airport's communications director, said the new steps take longer than normal and that additional personnel have been assigned, with the heightened effort expected to continue through the weekend. The Transport Authority corroborated the temporary supplementary requirements but declined to detail the underlying issues.
Current wait times are reported as a minimum of 45 minutes for all passengers. Travelers are urged to reach the airport at least two hours before European departures and three hours for flights beyond Europe. Mikkel Harder Munck-Hansen, director of the Danish Institute in Rome, recounted missing his scheduled flight to Rome after more than two hours in line.
Why it matters
Longer security queues can disrupt travel plans and increase congestion at a major European hub.
