New State-Backed Firm to Lead Iparművészeti Museum Renovation and Major Housing Projects
Transport and Investment Minister Vitézy Dávid announced the creation of a new company that will oversee the Iparművészeti Museum overhaul and large-scale residential developments.
Vitézy Dávid revealed that the government will keep the Steindl Imre Program Nonprofit Zrt. for the long-awaited Iparművészeti Museum refurbishment, a task delayed for eight years. A newly formed Hild József Központ will merge the Steindl program with the Várkapitányság Integrált Területfejlesztési Központ, Expo Part Kft. and the development arm of Városliget Zrt., creating a single operator for the country’s most complex heritage and real-estate projects.
The structure will also supervise the Rákosrendező initiative aimed at building over 10,000 new apartments, as well as the redesign of the abandoned Nagyvásártelep into a covered urban space. Additional cultural upgrades include converting the former Klösz György villa into a Photography Museum and opening the Zsolnay collection at the Kőrössy villa. The minister noted that the Hild centre will be led by engineer Ambrus György, who previously directed major city-development programmes.
