New UMass poll shows overwhelming American disapproval of Trump’s Iran war

A recent opinion poll by the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, fielded between Aug. 21 and Aug. 26, indicates deep public dissatisfaction with President Donald Trump’s Iran strategy and its domestic economic repercussions. More than two-thirds of those surveyed said Trump has performed “not well at all” or “not too well” on the war, and 54% expressed disapproval of the conflict itself. Only 7% believe the president is managing the economy effectively, while 75% rate his handling of inflation poorly.

Among Republicans, approval splits along MAGA loyalty lines, with 87% of staunch MAGA supporters backing Trump versus just 30% of non-MAGA Republicans. The poll also found that 80% think the war has raised fuel and food costs, underscoring broader economic concerns.
