New York Games Week Debuts Oct. 4-11 Across All Boroughs with Industry Showcases
The inaugural New York Games Week will run from Oct. 4-11, featuring a citywide series of gaming conferences, tournaments and exhibitions across the five boroughs.
New York’s first Games Week will take place Oct. 4-11, turning all five boroughs into a hub for video-game developers, publishers and fans. Backed by the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment, the week will feature over 25 events, including New York Comic Con—the East Coast’s biggest pop-culture gathering—independent expo Game-A-Palooza, the world’s first in-person Fashion in Gaming Awards, and a collaborative showcase by Women in Games and Game Devs of Color.
Industry insiders Guy Blomberg, Krysti Pryde and Amit Hossain are among the organizers, and a two-hour digital showcase hosted by VGAmatuers will stream live on major platforms. The initiative aligns with MOME’s broader strategy to cement NYC as a global games hub, highlighted by recent programs such as City College of New York’s new bachelor’s in game design, the NYC Video Game Festival, and the “Made in NY” developer grant. Officials say the growing sector generates millions in economic activity and thousands of local jobs, and the week aims to strengthen talent pipelines and attract investment.
Why it matters
The event showcases NYC’s ambition to become a leading global center for the fast-growing video-game industry.
