Jaissle, 38, arrives after guiding Red Bull Salzburg to its first Champions League knockout stage and winning back-to-back Austrian Bundesliga titles, followed by consecutive Asian Champions League Elite victories with Al-Ahli. In a club-issued statement he cited the team’s ambition and future outlook as key draws.

CEO David Hopkinson said Jaissle stood out in a thorough selection process, while sporting director Ross Wilson praised his alignment with Newcastle’s high-intensity playing style. The new manager will oversee four pre-season matches against Valencia, Everton, Bayer Leverkusen and Strasbourg ahead of the league opener versus Liverpool on August 23. Newcastle also faces potential squad changes, with Bruno Guimaraes linked to Arsenal and recent sales of Sandro Tonali to Spurs and Anthony Gordon to Barcelona.
