Newcastle United Opens Negotiations for Dortmund Midfielder Felix Nmecha
Newcastle United has begun formal talks with Borussia Dortmund and the player’s representatives about signing Felix Nmecha.
Newcastle United is actively pursuing a replacement for Bruno Guimarães by targeting Borussia Dortmund’s midfielder Felix Nmecha. According to sources, the club has held initial discussions with the player’s representatives and intends to present a formal bid to Dortmund. The German side’s sporting director has warned that any agreement would likely need to exceed €100-120 million, a sum the English club may find difficult to meet.
While Nmecha’s current release clause has expired, a new €80 million clause will only activate next summer. Former Newcastle manager Eddie Howe has long praised Nmecha, though it remains unclear whether new head coach Matthias Jaissle shares that view. Newcastle has generated roughly £250 million from recent player sales and appears ready to test Dortmund’s valuation.
