Newegg's GPU trade-in program may cost you more than selling yourself

Newegg’s trade-in scheme simplifies upgrading by bundling a prepaid UPS label with the purchase of an eligible replacement. Customers list their old GPU, CPU or memory, ship the items, and after a 10- to 15-day inspection receive a credit to the original payment method within a few days. The program, however, assigns values that are often well below recent eBay transaction prices for similar hardware, such as the RTX 2060 Super and other graphics cards.

Although Newegg covers return shipping for rejected items and conducts thorough checks of model, serial number, condition and performance, the trade-in must accompany a qualifying purchase that exceeds the offered amount and cannot be cancelled after dispatch. Inspected components may also be routed to Newegg’s refurbished-electronics line. Consumers weighing convenience against potential savings should compare the trade-in credit with independent resale options.
