Next recalls women's wedge sandals over footbed detachment risk

UK retailer Next has launched an urgent recall of its Mint Velvet Raya Espadrille Wedge Sandals after a safety alert warned the footbed can detach, posing a fall hazard.

An urgent product recall has been launched by UK retailer Next for its Mint Velvet Raya Espadrille Wedge Sandals after the Office for Product Safety and Standards identified a serious safety issue. Tests and consumer reports revealed that the main footbed can unexpectedly become detached from the wedge heel during normal use, creating a risk of loss of balance and injury. The recall targets the light-tan and brown open-toe models identified by numbers Y79431 and Y79434, which fail to meet the General Product Safety Regulations 2005.

Next is actively tracing sales, notifying owners, and providing full refunds or replacements at no cost. The safety alert advises anyone possessing the sandals to cease wearing them immediately and follow the return instructions supplied by the retailer. Authorities emphasize the potential for falls and related injuries if the defect is not addressed.
