NFL and Players Union Launch Confidential Mental-Health Network for Members
The NFL and the NFL Players Association will roll out a Behavioral Health Network on Sept. 1 to give current and former players and their dependents free, confidential outpatient mental-health services.
The National Football League and the NFL Players Association announced a Behavioral Health Network that will become operational on Sept. 1, providing confidential, no-cost outpatient mental-health care to active and former players and their eligible family members. Managed by Cigna Healthcare, the nationwide network will cover every NFL market and remove co-insurance fees, allowing unlimited visits. Participants will receive personalized assistance with finding providers, booking appointments and navigating benefits.
Nyaka NiiLampti, the league’s vice president of wellness and clinical services, said the initiative is designed to simplify the process of obtaining high-quality mental-health support. Amber Cargill, the NFLPA’s director of player wellness, stressed that the program reflects a broader commitment to mental and emotional health as part of overall player welfare.
