NFL commissioner Roger Goodell secures four-year contract extension through 2030 season

Roger Goodell will continue as NFL commissioner for a further four-year term that runs through the 2030 season, concluding on March 31, 2031. Robert Kraft, chair of the league’s compensation committee, disclosed the extension in a memo. The agreement was crafted with input from an independent compensation consultant and external legal counsel, emphasizing performance-based pay, with over 95% of the total compensation linked to the NFL’s results on various metrics.

The committee highlighted Goodell’s long-standing leadership, noting his age will be almost 72 at the end of the term. Goodell has been at the league’s helm since 2006, overseeing significant growth while also facing criticism over disciplinary and concussion policies.
