NFL receiver Keenan Allen arrested for drunk driving after Indianapolis stop

Around 1 a.m. on Aug. 30, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police officers detained Keenan Allen after he parked his white Nissan in a prohibited area. Officers noted extremely slurred speech, glossy eyes, a strong smell of alcohol on his breath, and a dry mouth with frequent lip-licking, all consistent with heavy drinking. Allen took a portable breath test that recorded a.224 blood-alcohol concentration, almost three times the legal limit of.08, and subsequently failed several field-sobriety maneuvers.

He was arrested and later charged with two misdemeanor offenses: operating a vehicle with a BAC of.15 or higher and operating while intoxicated. Allen, who joined the Indianapolis Colts on Aug. 18 after years with the Los Angeles Chargers, had caught six passes for 32 yards in the team's season-opening loss to the Ravens. His attorneys have not responded to requests for comment.
