NFL sets record with nine overseas games, debuting in Melbourne, Rio and Paris

This season’s NFL schedule includes an unprecedented nine games outside the United States, highlighted by inaugural matchups in Melbourne, Rio de Janeiro and Paris. The Los Angeles Rams will open the year against the San Francisco 49ers at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sept. 11, while the Dallas Cowboys travel to Rio’s Maracanã Stadium to face the Baltimore Ravens on Sept. 27. London remains a staple, hosting three games at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and Wembley, with the Jacksonville Jaguars becoming the first team to host two home games abroad.

Additional fixtures place the New Orleans Saints and Pittsburgh Steelers in Paris, the Cincinnati Bengals and Atlanta Falcons at Madrid’s Bernabéu, and the 49ers versus Minnesota Vikings in Mexico City’s Banorte Stadium. The schedule also features a Munich showdown between New England and Detroit, completing a global tour that spans six countries.
