NFL slashes London game tickets after slow sales, angering early buyers

Ticket sales for the NFL’s first London game of the season, featuring the Indianapolis Colts and Washington Commanders, lagged behind expectations, prompting the league to reduce remaining tickets to £79, its lowest 2026 tier. Early purchasers, such as Andy Burrows who paid £235 for a lower-bowl seat, now see empty seats next to theirs sold at the new price, fueling anger that the league prioritises TV optics over fan loyalty.
The NFL also emailed the price cut and listed discounted tickets on UniDays, offering half-off deals for students. Local observers like Matt Cullen and academic Jonathan Fry warn the abrupt discount could erode fan trust and affect future pricing. The stadium’s capacity for NFL games is lower than its soccer configuration, and attendance has never fallen below 60,000, but the league faces competition from other European fixtures in Paris, Madrid and Munich. The NFL declined to comment on the pricing changes.
