NGCP reinstates yellow alert for Visayas power grid on Oct. 17
The National Grid Corp. of the Philippines re-issued a yellow alert for the Visayas grid from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. after earlier lifting the warning.
Hours after cancelling a previous warning, the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) placed the Visayas electricity network back under a yellow alert for the 5 p.m.-8 p.m. window. The alert reflects that supply can still meet demand, but a plant failure could trigger outages. Ongoing plant unavailability and maintenance work are straining the system. NGCP reported the region’s available capacity at 2,511 MW against the expected peak demand.
