NHRC orders probe into minors featured in scripted political videos in Uttar Pradesh

The National Human Rights Commission took up a grievance that minor children were repeatedly featured in scripted, politically sensitive videos circulating on social media, allegedly tied to a coaching centre in Etah, Uttar Pradesh. The complaint raised issues of dignity, privacy, psychological impact, and missing parental consent, suggesting possible exploitation. In response, the NHRC directed the Etah district police to locate the children, safeguard them and arrange counselling.

The commission also issued notices to Meta, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and the Etah district administration to explain any role in the content's dissemination. Authorities are now tasked with investigating the alleged misuse of minors in digital political propaganda.
