Nightclub owners and partner surrender in Goa after Supreme Court orders bail cancellation

Owners Saurabh Luthra and Gaurav Luthra, together with business partner Ajay Gupta, appeared before the Mapusa Additional District and Sessions Court to surrender after a Supreme Court directive. The Supreme Court had dismissed their petitions challenging the Bombay High Court's order that cancelled their bail and instructed them to surrender within two weeks, also urging the trial court to speed up the case. The surrender relates to the deadly blaze at the Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub in Arpora, North Goa, on December 6, 2025, which killed 25 people and left many injured.

Their counsel, Saumya Drago, confirmed the court's acceptance of the surrender and noted that the judges allowed certain medical provisions such as medicines and a mattress, while a request for special footwear awaits a response from the investigating officer. The chargesheet alleges culpable homicide not amounting to murder, endangering human life, negligent fire conduct, forgery, use of forged documents and criminal conspiracy, accusing the trio of irresponsible actions that caused the mass-casualty incident.
