Nike's Global Sport Summit Highlights Investment and Infrastructure Needs for Women's Sports

Nike's Global Sport Summit, part of RAJ Epicenter Week, gathered athletes and industry leaders to discuss the next phase of growth for women's sports, emphasizing investment in science, infrastructure and community.

During RAJ Epicenter Week, Nike hosted its Global Sport Summit with more than 500 athletes, executives and innovators to examine the future of women's sports. Dr. Stacy Sims opened with a plea for gender-specific science, data and multi-disciplinary care teams to improve performance outcomes. Commissioners from the LPGA, AUSL and LOVB identified infrastructure gaps, from authentic storytelling to purpose-built stadiums and sustained investment.

A panel moderated by a journalist at one outlet reinforced the importance of placing the athlete at the center of a holistic support system. Speakers urged leagues and brands to leverage athletes as creators and community connectors, noting that engaged fans are willing to spend more. Former USWNT stars Lauren Holiday and Tobin Heath called for bold, experimental business models, while a fundraising gala secured over $700,000 for local charities and celebrated Portland Thorns and Fire milestones.
