Nimesh Patel's Netflix Stand-Up Special 'Buy the Dip' Slated for September 22
Comedian Nimesh Patel will debut his hour-long Netflix special titled 'Buy the Dip' on September 22, featuring material about family, politics and parenting.
Netflix has set a release date of September 22 for comedian Nimesh Patel's inaugural hour-long stand-up special, 'Buy the Dip.' The material, described as unfiltered, touches on the quirks of parenting, the eccentricities of his Indian family, and alleged corruption in Washington, D.C. Filmed across four performances at the Lincoln Theater in April, the special was directed by Mookie Thompson, who also serves as an executive producer alongside Patel, Daniel Powell, Alex Bach and Natalya Yonathan.
A promotional clip features Patel ribbing Kash Patel, joking about his stature and role as an Indian FBI director. Patel, whose writing credits include Chris Rock's 2016 Oscars hosting, Saturday Night Live and the White House Correspondents Dinner, said simply "Finally" when asked for comment. The project replaces an earlier Netflix-planned special titled 'Instant Karma' that was cancelled in April 2025.
Why it matters
The release marks Patel's first full-length Netflix comedy special, expanding his profile beyond writing for high-profile events.
