Nine deaths linked to suspected tainted liquor spark police alert in Nagaland

At least nine individuals have died at Tuensang district hospital within three days after experiencing breathlessness following the consumption of suspected adulterated liquor. Police officials believe the victims may have ingested a contaminated batch of rum, though a definitive link has not yet been confirmed. Nagaland's director general of police, Rupin Sharma, posted an alert advising residents of Mon, Mokokchung, Tuensang, Longleng, Kiphire, Shamator and Noklak districts to refrain from drinking alcohol as a precaution.

Preliminary investigations are focused on tracing the origin of the tainted liquor and identifying those responsible for its distribution. The police have also urged the community to stay vigilant and report any dubious liquor sales. The situation remains under investigation, and the deaths have not been officially attributed to the alcohol at this stage.
