Nintendo raises Switch 2 price by $50, effective September 1

Nintendo has confirmed that the price of its upcoming Switch 2 handheld will rise by $50 beginning on September 1, with the base 256 GB model without a game climbing from $449.99 to $499.99. The firm also announced two fall bundles, each exceeding $500 and offering a game with a slight discount. This adjustment arrives after a period of advance notice and comes amid a general trend of higher costs for portable consoles, though it remains modest compared with the $200-plus increase seen on the Steam Deck OLED.

The price change coincides with a growing library of titles, including upcoming releases such as a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and new exclusives like Donkey Kong Bananza. Nintendo highlights the Switch 2’s 7.9-inch LCD screen, magnetic Joy-Con 2 controllers, and backward compatibility with most original Switch games. Consumers who were on the fence are encouraged to purchase before the new pricing takes effect.
