Ninth teenager charged in murder of Logan partygoer after July assault
Police have filed a murder charge against a 17-year-old from Inala, adding to eight earlier teen suspects in the killing of Jongkuch Kur Jongkuch at a Bahrs Scrub house party.
On July 26, a house party in the Bahrs Scrub area of Logan turned violent, leaving 21-year-old Jongkuch Kur Jongkuch of Redbank Plains with fatal head injuries. He was discovered unconscious on Orchard Avenue shortly after 2 a.m. and died on August 1. Police initially charged eight teenagers, aged between 17 and 19, with his murder, describing them as arriving armed and intent on causing harm.
This week, a ninth individual—a 17-year-old boy from Inala—was also charged with murder, bringing the total number of accused to nine. He is scheduled to appear before the Beenleigh Children’s Court on Thursday. Authorities highlighted the role of local residents, community leaders, and representatives who encouraged witnesses to come forward.
