NLCS opener draws record TV audience as Brewers take early series lead
Game 1 of the NLCS attracted over 10.7 million viewers, the highest opening game rating on Fox since 2005, and the Brewers won 2-1.
Over 10.7 million people tuned in to watch the first NLCS game, making it the most-watched opening on Fox and Fox Deportes since 2005 and the most-watched LCS broadcast on any network since 2010. The game peaked at 12.4 million viewers between 8:00 and 8:15 p.m. ET. The Brewers edged the Dodgers 2-1 and followed with a second-game win, building early momentum in the series.
Dodgers pitcher Tarik Skubal lasted five innings, while Yoshinobu Yamamoto managed only 2 2/3 innings in Game 2, both marking their briefest postseason efforts. The Dodgers’ bats were cold, producing just seven hits in Game 1 and three in Game 2, and four-time MVP Shohei Ohtani went 0-for-4, prompting manager Dave Roberts to move him to the sixth spot for Game 3. The next contest will feature Blake Snell for Los Angeles and Robert Gasser for Milwaukee at Dodger Stadium.
Why it matters
The game’s record ratings highlight growing national interest in the NLCS and set the stage for a high-stakes series.
