Nordic Mining continues creditor talks amid severe liquidity strain
Nordic Mining announced it is still negotiating with its creditors in an effort to address the financial crisis that has put the company at risk of bankruptcy.
Earlier this week Nordic Mining warned that a lack of short-term cash could force it to seek bankruptcy protection. In a Thursday filing the company said it remains in talks with its creditors, hoping to reach an agreement that would stabilise its finances. The announcement coincided with a steep decline in the company’s share price, reflecting investor concern.
Operational challenges, including a slower-than-expected ramp-up at the Engebø mine and a restructuring effort announced in September, have further strained the business. Additionally, climate activists have successfully disrupted operations at the Førdefjorden facility on several occasions. The firm’s continued negotiations aim to avert insolvency and restore market confidence.
Why it matters
The outcome will determine whether a major Norwegian mining company can survive its financial crisis and continue operations.
