Norsk Hydro reports stronger Q3 performance amid high aluminium prices

Norsk Hydro announced improved third-quarter results, citing higher aluminium prices and lower fixed costs as key drivers.

Norsk Hydro released its third-quarter 2026 financials, showing a notable rise in adjusted EBITDA and overall revenue versus the previous year. The boost was driven by elevated aluminium prices, reduced fixed expenses, and record production of liquid metal at its Norwegian facilities. CEO Eivind Kallevik highlighted that strong operations allow the firm to capture upside in favourable markets and build resilience for downturns.

The results were partially offset by increased raw-material costs and a temporary shortfall at the Alunorte alumina refinery in Brazil, which lost between 100,000 and 120,000 tonnes of output. Earlier in the year the company announced plans to restart capacity at the Slovalco plant in Slovakia. Hydro also lowered its investment goal for the year from 13.5 billion to roughly 12.5 billion kroner.

Why it matters

Hydro's earnings show how aluminium market dynamics affect a major global producer and its investment plans.
