North Carolina teen indicted for murder after livestreaming San Diego mosque shooting
A 17-year-old from North Carolina was charged with murder for recording and sharing a livestream of a fatal mosque shooting in San Diego.
A grand jury this week indicted a 17-year-old girl from North Carolina on a murder-by-aiding-and-abetting count after she filmed and circulated a livestream of a shooting at the Islamic Center in San Diego. Forsyth County District Attorney Jim O’Neill said she was taken into custody last week, just before the start of the school year. The livestream captured the assault carried out by 17-year-old Cain Clark and 18-year-old Caleb Vazquez, who killed security guard Amin Abdullah and two other men before committing suicide.
The teenager also posted the perpetrators’ white-supremacist writings, which referenced the 2019 Christchurch mosque attacks. Officials stressed that her actions helped spread extremist propaganda and glorify the massacre. The case adds a new legal dimension to the tragedy that claimed three lives and endangered dozens of children nearby.
