Minot police searching a home after a domestic-violence incident found a concrete-filled tote hidden in a bedroom closet, which X-rays revealed contained an infant’s body. A neighbor’s information led officers to discover the child had died roughly three years ago in a different state, with the death never reported to authorities. Court documents state Sarah Kerzmann, while intoxicated, told a neighbor the infant was inside the closet, and Craig Kerzmann allegedly directed her to the burial site.
Both adults were arrested and charged with failure to report a child’s death and disturbing a human burial site; Craig also faces a domestic-violence charge. The tote has been sent for forensic analysis, and the couple’s preliminary hearings are set for early October.
